As a matter of fact, yes. The large links pictured here:

fit your description, and they are even made by Lego.
They are out of production, but I notice that there are many
for sale on Bricklink (pricey, however). I have quite a
few of these (since I collect the old gear sets) and they
work very well. You will need the old gear wheels as shown
here:

to use them.
