I believe I saw somewhere that the old style pumps has an external valve.
I think you may need a "non return valve" (see
http://w3.one.net/~hughesj/technica/registry/r_pneumatic.html)

| (...) thanks for the link. I think this might help. I will try tommorrow What I thought was a pump as it only had one hole is a type one cylinder I have also been trying a type one pump proper, but that is clearly old and might be a poor seal. (...) (25 years ago, 30-Dec-99, to lugnet.technic)
