While building the 8000 Pit Droid (which is pretty cool, btw) the other
day, I noticed something: The round disc piece used as the nose is none
other than one of the new Robo Rider wheels in green. I was glad to see
this, as it seemed silly to create yet another round piece. Also, this
would seem to be an improvment over the Throwbot/Slizer disks which are
not really usable as true building components.
Another observation: the parts used as feet for the 8002 Destroyer Droid
(which hasn't yet shown up in stores), are the "head piece" used in some
of the new Robo Riders sets as well.
Many other throwbot parts show up in these droid sets also, as they did
in some of the 844X sets of 99. It's good to see that, althought things
are looking a little "juniored" around the edges in the world of Technic
these days, the designers are still finding multiple uses for specialized
parts.
