Correction: No need for the Remote Control unless you want pushbutton
control of the Micro Scout motor's forward and reverse. The Scout in Stand
Alone mode while running its built-in programs can create VLL commands
transmitted through its red LED. The Micro Scout with its P program
selected can receive the VLL commands through its light sensor from the
Scout. The Micro Scout performs the commands sent by the Scout. No remote
or PC needed. See http://news.lugnet.com/technic/?n=3969 for an example.
