I was just looking around at various pictures of the 8460 (Pneumatic Crane
Truck) and 8868 (Airtech Claw Rig) sets, and noticed a few strange things...
All the pictures I have seen of 8460 (including the box and Brickshelf scan)
appear to have the in-cab steering wheel on the left, except for one. The
LS@H January 1997 catalog (US) appears to have the wheel on the right.
Nothing major, just something that caught my attention...
As for the 8868, the picture of the compressor on the box seems to be
different from the picture in the manual. Inside the cover flap, where it
displays some of the things the model can do, there is a close-up of the
compressor. It uses two medium-sized pulleys , two small pulleys/0.5
bushings and two rubber belts. However the picture in the manual shows one
large pulley, one 0.5 bushing and one rubber belt. The pieces that are
included match the instruction manual design. I tried switching the 8868's
compressor to the design on the box, just to see what would happen; it seems
to work a bit faster (since the reciever pulley is smaller) with a similar
amount of torque (possibly due to the dual rubber belts).
Has anyone else noticed either of these things?
