Many, many years ago I managed to get a very light single propellor plane
to trundle along at a snail's pace using the old 4.5V Technic motor. The
blades on the propellor were made from 2x8 plates somehow fixed to the
centre of the prop at about 45 degrees. You are right though, it was pretty
disappointing!
