I disagree, John. This kit is great and fairly affordable. The only better
source for pneu parts is the Tow Truck 8462. It's not widely available in the
US (DYA has several for around US$70, but add $20 for shipping, and be
prepared to wait a month), but it does have 2 air tanks (over-rated parts
IMHO), about 2 feet of each of the 3 air hose colors (about 6 foot total), 3 T
connectors, 3 large pistons, and of course 1 large pump.
The Search Sub 8250/8299 is almost impossible to buy, except from eBay or
private collectors who generally believe that pneu kits can earn a premium
(they're generally right.)
If you want to get into pneumatics 5218 is great, I believe. However, big
builders will want to buy a large pneu school pack from Pitsco Dacta and
scavenge parts from there. Mind you, though, that those kits are not
inexpensive either, considering the number of pneu parts you get.

This pack is nothing more than a boatload of Technics parts that you may or may not need sprinkled with one each of pneumatics parts that you actually want. You may need (...) (24 years ago, 9-Sep-00, to lugnet.technic)
