If the worm gear doesn't have very far to travel, you could also substitute a rack gear or two for a (...) (16 years ago, 3-Apr-09, to lugnet.technic)

   First (zeroth?), thanks to all the information and helpful hints. I should have realized that the worm gear doesn't fit with the rack, as their pitches won't match up. That's really obvious and I should have seen that. Second, the worm -> gear -> (...) (16 years ago, 6-Apr-09, to lugnet.robotics)
