Hi,
After building the new VW set last Sunday, I brought it to work and while
everybody admired it, one person commented that it should be powered and should
have functional steering... So back to the building desk I went and voila:

I did have to accept the following compromises:
- No more room for the spare tire under the hood.
- No more "engine" in the engine bay. Instead, an XL motor takes most of the
space.
- One of the rear seats is taken over by the IR receiver. I could probably hide
the receiver somewhere else but the limited length of the power function motors
forced me to place the receiver inside the passenger compartment. Dear Lego,
please make some extension cables!
- Due to the placement of the battery, the rear seat back is no longer angled.
Overall, I'm quite happy with the result. The steering was really tricky as
there is barely enough room for the tires to clear the wheel wells. I might
change the gearing on the drive motor to get a bit more speed...
Greetings,
David
