Call Lego, they normally replace parts that are defective for free.

Subject: Broken "hydraulic" pump on 8446
Howdy,
The "hydraulic" cylinder used in the cockpit of my 8446 has broken. Don't
know how it happend as it's actually broken internally. I'm using Lego's
own term for this part -- as described in the 2000 LSAH catalog for both
the 8446 and the Indy Storm, 8445, where the cylinder is used to raise
the hatch.
This part is not available for purchase from the catalog: Any suggestions
on obtaining a replacement? TIA,
Ari

| Yep. This is a known problem with the early releases of sets with that part. I've had three go. Call LEGO, and they'll send you another one. On Sat, 10 Jun 2000, Ram Meenakshisundaram (<000001bfd314$ef520600$e9a94 f0c@y6j4v6>) wrote at 19:49:04 (...) (24 years ago, 10-Jun-00, to lugnet.technic)
