I've been looking at how to do a properly done, realistic road grader for
some time now, from Technic LEGO, and I've become stuck trying to properly
emulate a realistic design for the front steering.
As anyone who's seen a road grader knows, they have a true three-dimensional
seering system.
It can lean to one side or the other, turn, and handle driving over drilled
runs with ease. Larger graders, especially, are articulated using
hydraulics at the cab-blade beam joint, making really tight 360 turns
possible.
As I understand it, in order to properly build the front end I need to use
some sort of universal joint assembly for the steering on the front wheels.
Does anyone have an idea how to do this in Technic?
Has anyone attempted a road grader in Technic? The few models I can recall
LEGO themselves doing didn't address the steering aspects needed.
Cheers ...
