Hello Peter,

"Peter Ehrlich" <peter@dairysight.com> schreef in bericht

In tin the latest catalog there is 'Red Beast RC' set 8378 for 39$.  Is
this a mistake? the last 'Dirt Crusher RC' cost about 139 is this a deal
of a lifetime or justjust not as good of an rc?

This is not a deal...
The Dirt Crusher is a "real RC vehicle, running on a 7.2 volt racing pack
battery, has suspension and a decent motor driving the rear wheels. Front
and rear axles are units, same as the middle unit, which contains the
battery and the receiver. All parts can be connected to each other. Heck, if
you have two of those you can even make a truck like vehicle with four
axles: www.t-hok.nl/rc, browse the directories. The transmitter has a reach
of about 25 meters, the speed of the vehicle is about 20 km/hour. It is even
a nice kit for RC starters (not lego fans) since it is a complete kit: car +
transmitter + batterypack for the car, charger for the batterypack and 9
volt battery for the transmitter.

The Red Beast is a nice cheap rc vehicle and is comparable with the cheap rc
vehicles in toy shops. this one uses AA-type batteries, is slow compared to
the Dirt Crusher, the transmitter has less reach, just about 7 meters. Front
and rear axle and receiver with battery compartment is one piece. You just
connect the body parts. This set does not contain any batteries.

The wheels can be exchanged. This makes the Dirt Crusher slower but more
powerfull. The red Beast does not get any faster, since it does not have
enough power to do so.

btw: the wheels cannot be connected to technic directly, but with some axles
and gears it *is* possible to use them.

I had the same feeling as you when I saw these sets and the prices of EUR
149,- for the Dirt Crusher and EUR 49,- for the Red Beast at S@H.

Greetings
