  Re: Strengthening Gears

(...) Been there, done that :) I think the gears are made of one kind of plastic (nylon?), axels another and bricks a third (ABS). Upon my searching through the Internet I've found a lot of pages about RC-car-wheel-boiling... /Tobbe (URL) (23 years ago, 8-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Hi Jennifer, I have been a fan of you work for some time but never got around to saying so! As far as lube goes I had the same problem that you described but I experienced it with silicone spray. I wonder if it has something to do with the (...) (23 years ago, 7-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Strengthening Gears

Hi Louis, (and all), I certainly don't dispute your explanation of the casting process, not at all - in fact I found it interesting to read about the cooling process. However, all the RC-10-family cars I've ever owned were made of nylon. At least (...) (23 years ago, 7-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Strengthening Gears

Hello all, May be I can help a bit with this conversation, I work in plastic injection moulds, when injecting ABS it becomes stressed cause of the path it must take to fill the cavity of the mould, when ejected from the mould, the parts are supposed (...) (...) Here's a pretty good page about SNOT by Holger Matthews (HoMo): (URL) in German but Babelfish can make understandable English out of it (at least to me who knows a tad of German): (URL) (23 years ago, 7-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Single acting pneumatics with spring return

Re: Pneumatic Air Compressor not working. Suggestions needed.

(...) This is not really true. I think that Boyles gas law is (boy, high school physics was a long time ago): Pressure * Volume = c * Temperature Where c is some constant of proportionality. Plus I think that this assumes some "ideal gas". Real (...) (23 years ago, 7-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)

One more thing that I forgot to mention. If you don't use the full stroke of the pump cylinder when pumping, make sure you position the cylinder so that you "bottom out" when the piston is fully retracted. Air will only flow from the atmosphere into (...) (23 years ago, 6-Mar-02, to lugnet.technic)
