While I agree that the Technic sets of late are slightly dumbed down from previous advanced sets I don't think we can condemn TLG as a whole. It seems that the ingenuity that went into sets like 8880 is now being spent on Mindstorms. And you have to (...) (24 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Ack ack ack! How can you say this? :-) I have used quite a few of those pieces in pretty useful ways, and the corrugated tubes are brilliant if you are into making your models look realistic. The cab on my excavator would be nothing without (...) (24 years ago, 24-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

Any guesses on how much money The Lego Group would make, overnight! if they re-released the JCB set, the old red tractor or the original test car or indeed any of the many other fantastic technic sets there used to be?
