Wow, I never would have thought there would be anything like this on the
internet. Speaking of storage for the anal retentive, I have set up my own
private building area in the study of my townhouse. I set up a system of about
10 chest of clear plastic drawers, with 30-60 drawers each, for the basic
bricks, 1x1, etc. for each color. So 1x1 Red would have its own drawer,
and multiples of that if needed. I have done this for all Lego colors. Then, I
have about 25 fish tackle plastic containers (Plano makes one, and also one
called EZ-Tackle, retailing anywhere from $1.99- $6.99, depending on size, I
cleared out Meijer's supply in two different stores!) with movable separators
for the specialized pieces. The colors are mixed in the specialized pieces
after I found out how many of them are there, the cost for each color would
have been way too much. I have this also for my mini-figs. I have a bin for
each color for all the flat lego basics, such as 1x2x1, etc. That way I know if
I have the color and size in a relatively quick fashion. I also have a stereo
in the area, with my own lamp, pens, etc. for a very good building environment.
After memorizing where things are, I have improved building time from my old
system by about 50-75%. With two jobs and going to school full time, that
is one good investment! I will post up my web page with pictures when I get to
it!

Am I crazy, or what? Let me know what you people think!

is this the 1st post to this group???? My one and only claim to lego famedom!! -- Anyway, due to a lack of realistic storage options, I tend to build bricks of a single type and colour into large, tall, towers. Takes up a bit less room, looks a bit (...) (26 years ago, 28-Sep-98, to lugnet.storage)
