Ugh- more ball joints that won't hold any weight.  Has anyone actually
gotten a Throwawaybot to stand up after having played with it for 5 minutes?
I found that the joints became about as floppy as a trailer hitch after even
minimal use.
-*-They hold weight for me...quite nicely in fact

As a matter of fact I have. Furthermore, I build mecha that stand 8-9 in.
tall over and over again (and mix and match joint combos often). Mark
Sandlin and Ben Vaughn use those peices in their mecha on occasion too.

-*-I have too! I use pnumatic hoses and cellophane to support the joints(I
don't actually need it, if the hoses are tight enough.) I use two double
sided ones joined together one on each side with a 2 long axle. I won't
explain it all, but check out my older websites www.geocities.com/page2.html
and       www.geocities.com/goodlmf for mecha that use the joints. I know
Brcye uses throwbot joints too (Big Blue and his one that isn't done yet.)

Of course if youre specifically referring to those catapult arm and shoulder
joint peices, those do really suck. But the hip/ankle sockets and and double
balled limbs are pretty strong. Check out my mecha (shameless plug alert!)
for examples.

-*-You should try making a mecha in the style of the new anime Brain
Powered, thats my current project as well. Check out this catalog with one
of the cooler Brain Powered models on it:

I hope TLC does bulk ball joints soon!!May be click hinges too.
Ahh...wishful thinking. Later-

(...) John, Brain Powered Mecha...very clean lines! Not really the direction I'm headed right now but cool none the less. I'm headed into the "tons o' crap way over the top" style, but I really like the arm of the Brain Powered model.
