I see with the mixed reviews (mostly bad) on the new line of SW sets that
everyone is thinking they are on a downward spiral.  Are they really?  Here
is my opinion:

A spiral must start somewhere, right?  It seems that most everyone was just
blown away by the first wave of SW Lego when they arrived on our local
shelves.  I think no matter what, the second series was doomed to fail
simply because it is no longer new, and all the critics are now free to
criticize.  We are used to SW Lego so now the sets must be perfect in order
to be good.  Maybe I am mistaken, but I believe most of the opinions on the
first series were good ones.  For those that had bad opinions on the first
series, what did you expect out of the second?  The scale on most (if not
all) of the models is off.  Look at the Y-Wing and Landspeeder particularly.
These models were horrible as far as scale, but I still own them.  The
Y-wing is almost acceptable after a while though.  The landspeeder should
have been at least 50% bigger IMO.  To make a long story short, (too late) I
like the new sets as much as I did the old.  The good ones that is.  I cant
stand the skiff.  It is at most 1/3 the size of the one they rode in the
movie, and where's Prune Face?  The flash speeder looks like the same design
as the landspeeder as far as seats goes.  Is it me or does it look like the
driver is about to get his head blown off?  In closing, I just want to say
that series 1 and 2 are the same.  The good is good, but the bad is really
bad.

I guess you are right. We were all probably blown away (and I heard other more colourful and less G-rated responses) when TLG finally officialised what most of us AFOL's have been doing ever since we could say "There'll be no escape for the Princess (...)
