Why are people buying Starwars Lego off ebay?

It is crazy if people are buying off ebay(that's probably like swearing to
some people), unless they are foreign? Places like etoys have got most stuff.
Also - is it true when people have been writing "Rare" when they talk about
X-wings and snowspeeders? Are they only going to release a small amount or
something?
