Dear Orion,
Here is a copy of that rule:
"- No CAD (L-Draw/MlCad) based creations are allowed, unless you dont
have the bricks in the right colors and you could show us your creations
with real LEGO bricks, then your entry is valid."
So,let me re-phrase it, you still can use L-Draw if you don't have the bricks in
the right colors as a true rendering tool of you entry. This decision has been
approved by all the judges for this particular contest that it is focusing on
building with real bricks.
The second category (B) is basically dealing with alternate creations, which
makes it hard for us to judge the entries if they were made in computer based
programs!
We might have other contests in the future that could be a bit more liberal in
their contents. So if this particular contest doesn't meet your expectations,
well I'm sorry... You might be able to participate in other future ones.
I my self, see L-Draw as a great tool for designing, making instructions and
stuff like that. But LEGO as Toy, isn't a virtual experience IMHO ! Otherwise,
why invest in the LEGO medium/brand in the first place?!
Again, a decent creation doesn't mean "a significant pile of bricks " like what
you have just mentioned!...
I my self as an alternate specialist can tell you quite the opposite! Basically
the techniques that you use in building from your "limited" LEGO part
collection, that determine how creative you are as a builder!
I hope you understand where I'm coming from.
Take care.
Joseph

| (...) The tone of my message makes it seem like I'm being a jerk. I apologize for that. I was actually trying to nicely point out that LDraw creations should be allowed in many of the MOC contests that are held in the community. The reasons for this (...)
