I am glad your excited, I was surprised seeing it in Target a few weeks ago,
but I am glad that they did not make real people into yellow. Your attitude
seems very harsh and negative, Damien, which is one of the reasons I don't
like the seemingly never ending posts complaining of the Lando / Panaka /
Mace thing in the first place. One of my original concerns was if they were
going to make a representation of Mace / Panaka / Lando as being ebony, that
they would correct the other actors race as well and not be yellow. However,
They are also making white or ivory players as well which you did not
mention in your post, and which I am also happy to see, to be more tolerant
of non-ebony people in the NBA, they did not make them yellow either. That
means to me that yellow does not equal ivory or white. I am happy that they
are making real people look real, although I think the stud on top looks
awful. Hopefully it will sell well. As for other sets, the mid year 2003
sets the minifigs are still yellow, so I am not sure if they will changing
any other areas. They also have a bunch of yellow minifigs in the general
basketball court, don't know the number or name off hand, which I find curious.

We shall see, since TLC seems to still be making yellow minifigs as well. If
they make a "ebony" Lando I hope they make a redo pack of heads and hands of
all the other actors that were mis-colored such as Mark Hamill and Harrison
Ford and Carrie Fisher, etc. If not, I think that is being inconsistant with
all the races, not just one.

Hmm... I think that is not likely, since they just licensed the NBA.
As for this whole debate, we shall see how TLC handles it, but I feel they
will continue the yellow minifigs for SW. But people should be happy that
they can make their Maces and Panakas and Landos from the NBA sets, and can
make other characters from the ivory NBA players if they so desire (I am not
doing that, I don't really like the faces that much, but I will buy a few if
/ when they go on clearance).

Since I believe that I have read them all in the past, I don't find any of
them informative or humorous. I feel mostly sad that race issue continues to
rear its head over so many people, even among LEGO fans. I don't care what
race you are, I care about who you are as a person and how you treat me and
others. Race has little to do with that aspect IMO.
My overall hope for TLC is to make Mace / Lando / Panaka their ebony selves
so we don't have to hear about it anymore, and at the same time make all the
other characters in the SW universe that were initially in yellow "ivory"
and then stop making yellow minifigs all together. Then they can have the
ebony and ivory minifigs out there living in racial harmony in LEGOLAND, and
hopefully the ebony and ivory LEGO Fans will feel happy about this issue as
well. Then we can worry about other LEGO matters, such as better products
that are profitable for TLC, and better bulk bricks and the like.
Will TLC be bold and make a statement on this issue? Unlikely, as I think
Jake and others ducked the question in the past. We shall see.
I am glad you are happy about the NBA stars, Damien, I am as well, we shall
have to wait and see how this other issue turns out.
Sincerely,
