and should be a lot larger than 2-3x the size of one person fighters.

Sure it's a bit off-scale.  The MF cockpit (which can seat two people
side-by-side) is about the same physical size as that of the X-wing in these
models.  Just pretend that the MF is farther away.  Besides, using UFO hulls
would've meant you could carry a dozen X-wings in a pinch.

I just built myself a set of these.  Had to substitute a few parts here and
there, but well worth dismantling my pirate ship to do so.  I would say
"swoosh", but it's more like "eeeerrrrroooooowwwhh!!!"
