If anybody has the new Lego catalog for this Christmas they know that two
new Star Wars Lego sets have been introduced.  One seems to be a Master
Builders type set, like the Statue of Liberty set.  It is a bust of Darth
Maul that appears to be life-size.  It is $150.  The other new set is an UCS
Blockade Runner.  Although it is not technically stated as an UCS set, it
includes 1,748 pieces and costs $200.  That in my mind classifies it as an
UCS set.  The Blockade Runner is over 28 inches long, and the Darth Maul set
is over 17 inches tall.  The Maul set includes 1,860 pieces.  It has a very
lego blocky look, but it's hard to make the head of Darth Maul look anything
but cool.  I hope these sets are a promise of what's to come in 2002 for the
Star Wars line.  Although they are expensive, the quality appears very high,
aka "you get what you pay for."  I think everyone will agree that lego has
done a fine job yet again, of translating Star Wars into lego bricks.  Enjoy!

(...) Yep, this broke here about a month or so ago, so the initial rush of discussion is long over. FBTB ((URL) has a partial list of next year's sets as well (though no graphics), as well as additional shots of both models, in the news archives. (...) (23 years ago, 28-Oct-01, to lugnet.starwars)
