Ever since I first saw the UCS X-Wing, it has been a mystery to me why LEGO made it primarily out of white pieces. To my eye, X-Wings are grey, and someone in LEGO also thought so when they built the prototype (shown in the March 1999 UK LEGO club (...) (24 years ago, 14-Jan-01, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) Those stickers bugged me quite a bit as well. The canopy wasn't too bad, but I knew I was going to take the set apart and didn't want to put on any of the stickers that spanned multiple parts then ruin them when I took it down..
