I don't have any LoM yet, but I hope to (being a primarily midieval-style
builder, I'm not quite sure what I'll do with them). Nevertheless, I've studied
them quite a bit, so here's my take on them: They are quite well done. Sure, a
few are kind of unattractive, but a solid A overall. I have to give praise to
Lego on this: it was an innovative idea for Lego, and it was well executed--it
could have been along the lines of Insectsoid-marginal designs, ugly, and plenty
of SPUDS of limited utility. On the contrary, however: LoM is a delightful
hodge-podge of elements (1) and colors that somehow manages to be both whimsical
and intriguing. LoM really could be a, well, pivotal series in the space
theme...kind of like Blacktron: a departure from the norm, but also a new
standard of quality. (Not that I believe LoM to be as good as Blacktron, but it
definitely has potential.) I know I'm preaching to the choir, but the lack of
juiorization needs to be applauded. Anyway, yes, I like the Martians.
