I'm new at this...

Greetings, all.

Never posted a message to a newsgroup before...

Anyway, I'm a fan of LEGO classic space as well as a few, if sparse, space
sets put out within the last 4 or 5 years.

I'm planning to announce yet another (as seems to be the trend lately)
massive spacecraft for your perusal. This is the first one of its size I've
ever attempted. I know Kyle Keppler knows about this, but I cannot overstate
that it's my first attempt and it's therefore not that pretty or even
streamlined.

I tried to stick to the classic space colors this first time out...blue,
gray, and white, with smatterings of yellow and black. Overall the model is
not quite 30 inches in length and has three decks (Bridge, cargo, and
quarters). In one of the pics (soon to be posted to BrickShelf), I've
included a Galaxy Explorer for comparison since I don't have a yardstick.
That ship is about a foot long.

Thanks, Kyle. Your suggestion about using long beam bricks to stabilize the
central structure worked beautifully...thanks as well to LEGO Technic.

A final word before posting of the pictures...it's got removable tops for
viewing of all decks, including the engine, and a Star-Trek-like captain's
chair with panels on the arms. I understand someone recently developed a
craft with these elements, and posted the pics less than two weeks ago. This
is to state that I DID NOT copy or intend to copy that design...I don't
really have any proof other than the "Under Construction" pics you can see at

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=2687

which aren't really proof because like an idiot I cut off the date on the
pictures when scanning them. My only material witness is Kyle Keppler, whom
I notified about this craft some weeks ago. It is mere coincidence.

Anyway I didn't want to alienate anyone before I had even established myself.

Peace,

Pat

Cool! I can't wait to see it when its done. I like the expansive cargo bay idea all done in tiles, and the bridge layout. -Tim "Pat Hough" <houghpt@usa.net> wrote in message news:G7ovGI.Inz@lugnet.com... (...) (24 years ago, 25-Jan-01, to lugnet.space)
