I find the site hard to use without the search option.  About half of the
stuff I am interested in would be best accomplished by searching keywords.
While the search remains down, I suspect that I personally will post far
less than previously -- that in and of itself  might motivate Todd to
prolong the absense of the search function.  There's more than one way to
shut up the curmudgeon...

Yeah I'm pretty dissapointed that the search option is down. I use it all
the time to find parts in the cad section.
I hope it will be available again soon.

I think Todd said he's trying very hard to get one working that doesn't hog
out the box. I'd rather the site was available with the search engine
working, too. It's quite frustrating. I find that I have been posting a lot
of "well I seem to recall so and so said something about that but I can't
give you a ref" sorts of posts (c.f. the big crane from Holland thread in
.build)... but failing that, I'd rather the site was available without
search than that it crashed all the time. It was going through a pretty
scary patch there for a while, crashing what seemed to be quite regularly.

I'm not sure there's anything we can do to help Todd, since we have no
visibility to the internals, other than answer his questions when he posts
them in .geek. But I wouldn't take it personally, Richard. :-) I doubt
there's a vast conspiracy to silence you afoot. (if there was, it would have
targeted me as well).

fut .admin.general for Todd to comment on if he so chooses.
