Gaaaa. You beat meeeeeeeeeeeeee.
: ) Heh... my fault I didn't get off my butt and make one.
I think it looks really good. Did the 'thopters in the mini series have fans
on the two flaps? Either way I liked the way they were portraied in this
version of Dune and I like your rendition a lot.

Announcing my newest MOC... an Ornithopter from Dune.  Not only is this
model my first non-Star Wars MOC that I'm sharing with the world, it's • also
the first (and probably last) one that I've created entirely in MLCad, no
real life building involved.  I made it this way just to see if I could
(also because I don't have access to my bricks at work... ;)  Because of
this, I can't really vouch for the structural integrity of the model, nor
the colors of certain pieces.  I'm fairly certain all of the pieces are
available in the colors shown, but I really don't know.

It's not a perfect model, but it's the only Dune model that I know of...
It's heavily inspired by the 'thopter portrayed in the Sci-Fi Channel
miniseries "Frank Herbert's Dune."  Though you can't tell from the one POV
rendering I've put up, the wings are on click hinges so that they can
"flap."  There's room in the cockpit for about four minifigs
(uncomfortably.)  An opening at the top of the cockpit allows for entry.

I plan on rendering it from different angles and posting the dat file
sometime next week.  I need to clean the dat up a bit before I make it
public.  Also I should have the dat file (and some renderings) of my
Imperial Shuttle ready sometime next week... :)

Anyway, I've put up a single render on brickshelf, here's a link to my • account:

enjoy, and please LMKWYT

(...) fans (...) Yup, on TV they had large fans/rotors there. -- -Bones- = (URL) = NecroBones Enterprises (24 years ago, 23-Dec-00, to lugnet.space)

(...) Yeah, they ones from the miniseries did have large fans in the middle of the two flaps. I couldn't think of a good way to do 'em however so I left 'em out. -Bryan (URL) (24 years ago, 25-Dec-00, to lugnet.space)
