Readers younger than us may not understand the design elements. If so, I’d suggest they look at some TV shows from that era: Battle of the Planets, Space: 1999, Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, and etc. And don’t forget shows that were in re-runs like the Star Trek (the original series) and Lost in Space.
