All I added is a mini-fig. I wouldn’t normally post about these MOCs, but I’ve seen a lot of posts from fairly new builders recently saying they can’t compete with builders who have large collections because they don’t think it’s a fair playing field. Though to some extent I sympathize, I also wanted to make the point that creativity is possible even with just one set. (Though it is a very good set.)

Cheers, Good building, Mark.

That’s too bad that they are being frustrated over competing. With anything in life, there’s always going to be someone who has more of something, it’s just a general hangup your going to have to get over. Isn’t it supposed to be not what you have but what you do with it..? ;-) I’ve always looked at sprawling huge mocs and tried to look past the obvious, wow what a lot of translucent tiles or whatever, and think, is this what makes the moc cool? Would this be an awesome build without the volume factor? What’s the ‘ooo’ factor, the size of it, or the creative use of elements, and generally the things that I save in my mix pics folder are the more creative use of bricks, which may or may not be bigger works. Generally it’s a small detail on a larger work that makes it click, or a teeny brick built animal which makes the whole farmyard. And as someone who has a fairly sprawling collection, but not borderline infinite, you still run out of something eventually. No matter how big your collection gets, you will always run out of that piece in that colour. The best creations generally come from working out solutions to problems, problems usually being not having the piece you want, and then seeing possibilities in something else.

Very nice alternates btw heheh, lots of fun textures and angles going on.

cheers, Joseph

Hi all, I recently went on a work trip and took the parts of set 4888 Ocean Odyssey with me. These two MOC's were the result. (4 URLs) All I added is a mini-fig. I wouldn't normally post about these MOCs, but I've seen a lot of posts from fairly new (...)
