  Re: Future of commuting

Reminds me of the Toyota concept cars in this months issue of Popular Science. You can see a picture here and there are more in the newstand issue. (URL) I like it, Daniel (21 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: All-Natural Space Travel

This is really cool. It's very airy and light, but still doesn't look too fragile. Some really interesting build design in there too (especially around the cockpit...ow, my head hurts now...). Sweet ship! -Stefan- (21 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Tanks or Power Armor

(...) That's not that different than today's tanks shooting while on the move - the recoil is taken into effect, but it's not nearly as powerful as the drive. Also, don't forget that the mass of a round is minute compared to the mass of the tank. (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

  Re: Tanks or Power Armor

(...) I agree! (...) Either that or they’d use recoilless weapons (venting exhaust gasses from projectile weapons, or energy weapons of some sort, or whatever) However I think there’s still the billiard ball effect. When struck with a projectile, (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Yeah, remember that big white and blue space ship at Brickfest?

(...) Indeed, your presence was missed at BF. It certainly was a spectacle, and it certainly is a relief to have it finally completed too! (...) Yeah. If I ever conceive of a project of this scale again, please try and talk me out of it. ;) (...) (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Yeah, remember that big white and blue space ship at Brickfest?

(...) For ships of this scale, the drawer technique works out quite well, though you have to be very judicious in the building of the superstructure to make sure that it doesn't (2 URLs) fall> (URL) apart> during construction :) As for the tail (...)   Re: Yeah, remember that big white and blue space ship at Brickfest?

(...) Hey, high praise from another big ship builder! Always a pleasure. As for the shape, it turned out that greebling the exterior of the Tribunal was unneccessary. In fact, almost every attempt at greebling I tried just looked tacked on exactly (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Inside the Tribunal's Shuttle Bay: PCS Paul Dirac

(...) Who's going to attack an unarmed shuttle whose only cargo is likely to be scientific in nature? Oh, right, 3vil. Who do things for the sake of being 3vil. I'm not the first to make an underslung canopy like this (Our very own Grand Admiral has (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Tanks or Power Armor

(...) Since power suits are near future sci-fi and we are talking about tanks everyone should check out Keith Laumer's Bolo series. It concerns a really cool (and scary in many dimensions) future military developement idea: Bolo's Giant tanks run by (...)   Re: Tanks or Power Armor

Very interesting discussion everyone. In my opinion, MBT's will always have the advantage over powersuits in terms of cross country mobility, firepower and protection. There are a few situations where a single man powersuit would have significant (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Tanks or Power Armor

(...) I don't know jack about real-world tank design and specifications, and haven't given much thought to potential powersuit concepts, but this has been a very cool discussion to read all day. I certainly see a place for tanks in the future, as (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Yeah, remember that big white and blue space ship at Brickfest?

What a spectacle this must have been in person. Sorry to miss it. But still very cool to browse through all your progress and final photos. A grand undertaking, and certainly a project well worth the time it took to build. You've impressed us all, (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Jade Empire Hong Hovertank

(...) If I'd thought up this moc and completed it before Fest, and somehow made it to DC, that would have made for a fun battle in front of the JHoJ. (...) Ah yes my Precious. Someday we'll establish a backstory for Jade Empire and how exactly this (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Jade Empire Hong Hovertank

(...) Sounds like an idea for an effects shot for me to work on..hmmmmm :) (...) Nope. Bwahaha. (...) As noted in my original post ;) (...) A three-way fight would be even better. That would be an entertaining matchup indeed. I'd like to tackle a (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Jade Empire Hong Hovertank

(...) The Federation tank has one main cannon and two puny side cannons. Theoretically the curved front end of the tank fires a variety missiles, but all I see is printing ;) I'm confident my hovertank would rip it to shreds. Thanks, Bill. :) --Ry (21 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Jade Empire Hong Hovertank

(...) Thanks, 22. Glad you (and others) enjoy the progress shots.. all my mocs go through such drastic design changes that it seems like a fun way to present multiple ship ideas to the public when posting the final moc. Maybe someone will see (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Jade Empire Hong Hovertank

(...) There's many more designs to be created for Jade Empire ground forces; this is just one idea, in my personal building style! :) If you or any number of other JE builders (or even new builders to the theme) took a stab at the concept, we'd have (...)   Re: Jade Empire Hong Hovertank

(...) Well hey thanks for the compliments and sharing those links..those are some interesting ideas! I've seen neither before, but that is a stud orientation I may have to play around with for future models. --Ry (21 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Moon shuttle

Here is a space shuttle that could be found at the Moonbase : (URL) Folder post moderation : (URL) here> This is my biggest space ship so far. I wanted it to have a bit of a retro feel, a la "Cosmos 1999". And talking about this TV show, I saw on (...) (21 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)
