    12 x 886 Space Buggy —Derek Raycraft
With next year being the 25 anniversary of Lego Space I wanted to build a tribute to this great theme. I chose one of the original Classic Space sets, the 886 Space Buggy and built it 12 times larger. See it at my first MOCpages page: (URL) must say (...)         Re: 12X 886 Space Buggy —David Gregory
That is INCREDIBLE! I love that way that each giant piece is a separate part. The giant "mini"fig alone would be great. Combined with the buggy, it's just awesome. (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Jonathan Wilson
WOW. That is cool. That is certainly a LOT of trans-green. (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Paul Baulch
(...) Cool. Now if only LEGO would do a similar thing with the soft Dacta bricks :-) Cheers, (URL) Sci-Fi LEGO> (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Calum Tsang
(...) Simply amazing, Derek. When we first saw it at dinner, I think we were ALL blown away, robot and train fans alike. Like you, I was also a big Classic Space fan too! (URL) one time violation of the shoebox rule (grr) was well worth it. :) Calum (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Allister McLaren
(...) <wipes tear of nostalgia from eye> A fitting tribute to the one that started it all. That, along with 885* were the first space set I ever received. Was that really 25 years ago? yoiks! Well done. Allister * any chance of supersizing 885 as (...) (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Jonathan Wilson
(...) I wanna see a supersized 6973. Course there isnt enough trans-fluro-orange on the planet to do that :) (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Derek Raycraft
(...) The three sets I considered for this project were 885, 886 and 889. I thought it would be fun to build the radar dish in the 889. My Star Destroyer recently meet its doom, so I definitely had the gray plates available to build it. But as a set (...) (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Adrian Drake
(...) Wow, this is supremely cool. I love how every brick has all of its details shown built in, like the studs and the stud holes on the undersides of each brick, and your minifig is very well done indeed. Adrian (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Chris Magno
Derek: At dinner when you showed everybody your big set, I will begrudgingly admit that it was kind-a cool. good job. although a robot would have been a better use for those gears. (smirk) Chris p.s. i still think your a freak for doing it. (unless (...) (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

whoa. That little buggy took this little boy on adventures many years ago... thanks for the memories. A spaceman, a blaster, and a buggy. What else do you need?         Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Anne Carasik
(...) Hi Derrick, That's really amazing. As a classic space fanatic, all I can say is wow! I love the way you made the big minifig, especially the fact the legs work. :) -Anne (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Bruce Hietbrink
Derek, Amazing creation. Any one of your oversized pieces is a great sculpture in and of itself. Together they leave me speechless. Bruce (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Sylvia Tresto
(...) What a great way to pay tribute! People who build at this scale never cease to amaze me. Thanx! Love, Sylvi (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Daniel Rubin
(...) WOW! This would have been awesome enough as a sculpture, but to make a bunch of separate giant bricks! It boggles the mind. Nice Job Daniel Rubin (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Duane Hess
(...) As a fellow (URL) large scale builder>, all I can do is echo everyone here. I'm impressed with the functional details you've managed to work into the Minifig model. I can't even go into the detail you've put into the buggy. I thought about (...) (21 years ago, 20-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Allan Bedford
(...) In fact it was while looking at the extra pics on Brickshelf that I realized fully the extent to which you have gone to be accurate.         Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Mark Chittenden
(...) Very very nice. Is the "minifig" based on the 2723 with the legs rebuilt to be functional or it completely a new design? Working on a 10x scale 'brick' horse myself, I see I'll need to do up a rider for him now... (URL) (21 years ago, 22-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Derek Raycraft
(...) Somewhat. The idea to make the legs and arms more functional came from Jeff VW in rtlToronto. He build a version of this mini-fig with the standard rtlToronto khaki pants and blue t-shirt. He also worked in gearing for the arms and legs. From (...) (21 years ago, 23-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Mark Chittenden
(...) Personally I was inspired when I saw someone's else pile of scaled up bricks. Scale 10 seems to be the standard. I've also done some 2x scale up's of a few sets, just to get in the hang of thinking "upscale". (21 years ago, 23-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: 12 x 886 Space Buggy —Mark Chittenden
(...) Ok, I searched and searched, and can't find any reference/guides/instructions? to Jeff VW's idea for the minifig sculpture. I'm very interesting in seeing some ideas on rebuilding the minifig sculpture to include functional arms and legs. (...) (21 years ago, 25-Oct-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
