I always thought:
Black - Commander (Because theres so few of them)
Blue - Lieutenant
Yellow - Scientist (They always get the scanning gear/diggers)
White - Mechanic/Worker
Red - Pilot (You always get Red chaps with space ships)
How did everyone else categorise their space-figs?

Most of the time I used this same system. But occasionally, on special missions,
suit color represented envirnmental specialties: Red- for Geologically active
planets, or very hot environments Blue- for aquatic exploration
Black- prolonged EVA
White and Yellow were support crew for these special missions.
