The Scout version of PA004 is outfitted with smoke/flare tube launchers and
jump thrusters.
An experimental technique for concealing objects has been developed and
installed on PA004. Advanced digital computer imagery using thin panel high
definition displays allows the presentation of extremely realistic scenes on
flat or curved shields designed to conceal an object, thus causing
"cloaking" technology to become a reality at a reasonable cost. Tailored
applications using monochrome patterns or artificial images in lieu of the
actual background have proven to be advantageous in certain scenarios. Also,
stealth techniques based upon light and energy technology can be employed to
minimize radar and sonar detection. An important feature of the advanced
display technology is the possibility of varying the reflection parameters
of thin film displays. This allows the energy levels within a system or
structure to be effectively controlled.
No energy or projectile weapons are built into the Scout configuration.
One of the arms, however, can be modified to use a medium laser cannon
as done with PA003. The scout can be given various hand-held weapons but it
is usually
outfitted with a Semi-automatic Sniper Rifle and a Bead or Laser Riffle.
