Hmm. Actually the gate was in the ship the whole time. It's part of Duel's
long term goal. To be able to return home someday. It's still a mystery to
all the other citizens at the moonbase why they would travel so far away.
Only to return, but the amount of new technology they have both freely
given and sold has made them earn a lot of trust.

Theatrically? Yes. Within the story one must believe the Arcane's are
recycling the removed materials to cut down on buying new. While they
do have a replictor capable of making new, it is very small and currently
underpowered.
Actually? Sort of. We've recycled about only 20-25% of the original model's
parts. Don't forget this started out as one of Ken's modified sets: the
Galactic Mediator (http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6984). He turned it into this:

You should see the module now. It doesn't even look like it was ever a
