Some of you might remember an old role-playing game called Star Frontiers.
I have always wanted to build my own model of an Assault Scout from the
game. Pictures can be found here:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=25901

The model featured a working elevator and air locks, six decks, retractable
landing gear, four crew quarters and two small pod bays.  One important
design note: in the Star Frontiers universe, there is no such thing as
artificial gravity, so decks are positioned perpendicular to the main engines.
This is actually my second revision.  I took some liberties with the design
and am currently working on a third, more prototypical version.  But I wanted to
save some pictures before I reuse the parts.

A description from the rulebook is:

“Assault Scout. HULL SIZE =3. Assault; scouts can be used to attack larger
ships much as fighters can, but their larger size and crew of 4 to 6 give
them much more versatility. They are as fast as fighters, and are big enough
to operate without a base station or carrier. They are lightly armed and
easily damaged, however.  They can make interstellar trips, although they
require an overhaul after each jump. They serve as scouts and rescue ships
as well as combat vessels.
Weapons: 4 assault rockets, laser battery
Defenses: reflective hull”

Great job David! The crew quarters are great and the outside looks awesome. Are those white bricks or mint green? Hasta La Vista, Sean (...) (22 years ago, 30-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)
