These are both excellent ideas and very simple to use. :)
For ground vehicles, I offer one of my own creations:

There are several pictures following that one that show other angles, but
basically the bottom two missles that are "side by side" are attached with a
1x2 with the pegs on either side (like you see in Classic Space sets - as
William Ward mentioned) and the top missle is mounted on a 1x2 with center
stud attached to a "loud speaker".
