Hi,
I'm new here and this is my first post, but I was wondering if anybody
has made a workable, minifig scale airlock/docking ring that is 7 or less
bricks high? I'm looking for ideas i might be able to use on a new ship I'm
building.

Oooh, the standard-airlock discussion comes up at the same time
as someone raises "Space World"!  Good stuff to discuss, I think.
Did we ever come to any consensus about standard docking rings?

I'm using a "standard" ring for HMS Experiment that uses simple
train doors (!!) and a necessary footprint of 6 bricks' height
(for the passage itself), though it's 8 with all the external
fairings.  I use 4 Technic pegs to connect each section, and I
also use the system for connecting all of the ship's modules, thus
making the ship absolutely *full* of airlocks in case of failure
in any one module (even the nexus).   I'll try to get a picture
of the dedicated airlock/equipment module tonight--maybe also
the EVA-bug module, which is also in part an airlock (but has
neither engines, wings, nor guns ;) ).

   best
