  Re: Old stuff, NEW pictures!

(...) DAN! Say it isn't so .... I was hoping that someday, before you dismantled your carrier, you'd fly out to the Northeast and we'd all get together and play a stunning Space-Pirate Brikwars game in your ship! Or Alien invasion ... either one, (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jun-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.gaming)

Re: Wings [was: Re: Building big]

(...) That may be true, but I don't think anyone knows for sure, because we haven't tried going that fast yet. My spacecraft follow a very "hard SF" policy - no FTL travel, no artificial gravity, etc. But that's not to say that it's the only way... (...) NOOO...OOOoooooooo, say it isn't so!!!! Must you!!!!! I guess you made the decsion for a reason. Gi-mongus Carriers are hard to come by. I almost regret taking apart my Hexapod Armature, but I knew that the Robot could be so much more and it was (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jun-01, to lugnet.space)

(...) (and even if you're not), I bow to your talent. I can only dream that one day I might construct something one-hundredth as impressive as that. (24 years ago, 20-Jun-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.loc.au)

  Re: dark nemesis variant

Thanks. As for using USC, the only excuse I can offer is that I have lived 90 minutes away for the University of South Carolina (USC) for the past 20 years. UCS just doesn't stick in my mind. I got the letter arrangement wrong in the brickshelf (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jun-01, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Building big

(...) Oddly enough, there is hatch/airlock on the rear ventral area of the ship that comes equipped with a roundish white matenince craft! Maybe when I was building it I was subcontiously making it look like a platypus. Weird... --Kyle (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jun-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.loc.au)

Re: Wings [was: Re: Building big]

(...) My spacecraft have wings if they're intended to enter the atmosphere, such as my Sparrow, (URL) . If they are strictly space (no atmospheric travel), they won't have wings, but they will have things that look like wings, but are field vanes. I (...)   Re: Old stuff, NEW pictures!

(...) Thanks, Michael! Yes, the turret is fully functional. It rotates, the bubble dome opens, the guns go up and down. To get the turret to rotate, I use a 4 X 4 turntable inside the ship. I put one tall half-cylinder piece (like the ones for the (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jun-01, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Old stuff, NEW pictures!

Thanks, Mladen! Yeah, topping my current big starship is going to be a challenge. I'm thinking of something non-military this time, maybe a deep space exploration starship. I would like to make another story too, we'll see. Dan (24 years ago, 20-Jun-01, to lugnet.space)

Actually, if you're travelling at near-light velocities, the density of the interstellar medium becomes high enough (especially within solar systems, so I guess that would be intrastellar medium) that a streamlined shaped would become (...)
