Hi Jesse: (...) A distinction must be made between controlled and uncontrolled re-entry. In the case of the Apollo (and various other pre-shuttle craft) entry was controlled, to an extent, as you indicate. Of course friction was still intense, but (...) I figured out how to make a cylindrical centrifuge habitat which simulates artificial gravity, a la the Discovery habitat in _2001: A Space Odyssey_. Check it out here: (URL) still have an exam to study for and to do, so I can't really explain/show (...) (24 years ago, 19-Jun-01, to lugnet.space)
