I'm hanging on every byte, John. I've tried a couple times to do what your doing
with the Spybot API, and I just don't seem to have what it takes. For instance, I
tried to figure out how to get the Spybot to respond to its remote control from
NQC, but couldn't get it. Maybe if I actually took the time to learn Mindscript...
I'll be showing two Spybot-driven carnival rides at Indianapolis GATS this
weekend. They just run the motors, diplay LED patterns and play music, though.
(They wouldn't even be displaying LED patterns without contributions from people
like you.) I would have liked to let the crowd interact with the rides via the
remote controls, but lacked the know-how. Putting this in the API would make it
possible for me.
We (IndyLUG) have also talked about using one or two Spybots to run a train
contrainer crane.
And with low-cost Spybots able to recognize and communicate with each other from
NQC, I can start playing with collective emergent behaviors (e.g. swarming). Then
the real fun begins, and the original promise of Spybots might just be possible.
