A printed sheet packed in the Robotics Discovery Set #9735 box with the
Scout offers the follow promise: "In late 2000, LEGO MINDSTORMS will
release a booster pack that will let your Scout work with your PC. The
booster pack will let you program the Scout using your PC, control the Scout
via a wireless infrared link, unlock new functions and sensor capabilities,
and create more advanced robots. For more details, check out
www.legomindstorms.com."
Lego offers some free soft products, ie, the SDK, at:
http://www.legomindstorms.com/scout_sdk/
Do these products satisfy the booster promise?
Lego explains some interesting applications at:
http://www.legomindstorms.com/products/rds/hackers.asp
The document shows an example of communication between the Scout and
MicroScout. The MicroScout also comes in #9754 Dark Side Developer Kit.
The stores Target and Best Buy have recently sold #9735 RDS for $80 - $100
and 9754 DSDK for $70.
The Mindstorms "Ultimate Accessory Set" #3801 helps extend the use of the
Scout. Most of the parts work with the RDS Scout except the rotation sensor.
