RUNNING
GPS_Camera.lib then GPS7.vi & LEGO_Soccer.lib then SOCCER5.VI
WHAT HAPPENS:
1. SOCCER5.VI downloads into the RCX several tasks and subs.
2. Once running GPS7.vi it does not seem to send coordinates to the RCX.
3. Once loading SOCCER5.VI into slot #1 on the RCX and running it the RCX does
not seem  to work. It turns or backs up.
4. GPS7.vi & SOCCER5.VI seem to use a special type of communication called
opcode-transmission. It's not Direct or Internal.
5. The GPS7.vi gets the positions of the three objects, RCX#1, RCX#2 and the
ball, and sends the information to the two RCX's.
QUESTIONS:
1. Would the green light on the IR tower light up when sending coordinates? 2.
What program slot on the RCX is used for SOCCER5.VI?
3. Does the GPS7.vi program send all six variables to each RCX every time it
refreshes after the variables have changed?
4. Is the buffer used on the RCX?
5. In the SOCCER5.VI where are the commands for receiving information from the
rotation & light sensor?
6. In the SOCCER5.VI where are the commands for the motors? Are they formulated
and sent as HEX?

I have never been so challenged or facinated.
Thanks for being there. Tom Lohre

Hi Tom,

You selected one of our hardest ROBOLAB projects. The journal shows you many
things, but perhaps is not explicit enough to help you through what you intend
to do with it. However note that the Soccer communication only works with the
old serial tower. The USB tower doesn't work here. The motor commands are
hidden, because the RCX programs are based on the subsumption architecture -also
explained on the pages.

Seriously missing time now, I can't help you more than this now. (I even forgot
many details, because it's a 2001/2002 project.)

(...) Dear Claude, I cannot thank you enough for your support. I posted this to Lugnet in hopes there was another who could help me. Would you not know that the serial tower vs USB tower was a question I had? I will get a serial tower and continue. (...) (19 years ago, 28-Mar-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.robolab)
