After too many delays, I have finally released the latest
pbForth. You can find out about it at:
<http://www.hempeldesigngroup.com/lego/pbFORTH>
Remember to hit refresh so that you get the new page with
the new links, not the old one!
Have fun on the holidays. Here's what's new:
Notes for build 111 - December 18, 1999
* Bumped version number to 1.1.1
* Reenabled multitasker
* Fix endian bug in IMMEDIATE and COMPILE-ONLY
* Added Sergey Udovenko's SREC, XSEND, and SAVESYS files
* Fixed BUTTON example in scripts
This release is a major upgrade in pbForth, which would not have been
possible without help from Sergey Udovenko. He discovered any bugs latent
in the last version and suggested the SAVE-SYSTEM mechanism.
SAVE-SYSTEM allows you, the user, to build your application by loading
up ASCII scripts, just like before. The big deal is that now you can
save the image in an S record form for fast 4x downloads with
Dave baum's new NQC system! This is really important if you are
frustrated with the download cycle.
I was only able to improve it by suggesting that he convert the XMODEM file
dump into an S-record format right on the RCX! What a great little brick!
The other big deal is that pbforth.srec is now a minimal kernel. It has
the RCX interface built in, but the wordlist, tasker, and other optional
bits are now loaded by the user. The SAVE-SYSTEM mechanism allows you to
build a kernel with exactly what you need!
Have fun, show your friends, and remember you can always contact me and
other users at <http://www.lugnet.com/robotics/rcx/pbforth/>
Cheers,
Ralph Hempel - P.Eng
