I use the Keyspan TWIN adapter (USB to serial port) along with a simple
mac-to-pc style serial adapter (I think it came with a Pilot 1000 many
years ago).  The TWIN adapter is a bit pricey, but I bought it because
it also works with externally synced serial hardware (e.g. MIDI
adapters!)

NQC words fine.  You just have to tell NQC what serial port to use.
With MacNQC this is in the preferences dialog box.  For command line
NQC, use the RCX_PORT environment variable, or the -S option to the
command line.

p.s.  A while back there were some problems with early versions of some
of the Keyspan drivers, but I haven't heard reports of problems
recently.  Also, the FIFO option for the TWIN adapter can cause some
timing problems, but its easy to turn off in the control panel.

The iBook only has a USB port, no serial ports. Is it possible to connect
the IR
Tower to a USB port, without having too much trouble, or damaging the USB
port?
Will NQC know that I use a USB port? Can I get an adapter? Is it
expensive?

Thanks
