I am still really battling with this.
I have tried to hack the "program.c" which from what I understand is the code
that the RCX uses to download legOS onto itself. I have gotten a very small
subset of that program to compile but it seems to just hang. I think the
problem is to do with semaphores. That is, the program never seems to wake up
from its semaphore even if I am streaming data out of the IR tower. Is the LNP
designed strictly to only talk to another RCX?? from what I understand it looks
like it should receive bytes in from any infrared source.
We really need help to get this up and running pretty soon so that we can
actually get a demo running.
Ideally we would like each RCX to have a send and receive task which when
called can send messages to another (identified with an integer or something)
RCX.
With the mindstorms community being strong on the open source thing we would
love collaborators on this project. :)
The status current is :
6 RCX's (plus all the lego bits and pieces that come with them, including IR
towers etc)
1 linux machine which has a compiled and running vesrion os legOS 0.2.2 working
on it
1 solaris box on which we have built a very very rudimentary java program which
spits stuff out the IR tower and gets a ping back (still under development as
we speak)
-- we don't have much else going. We are trying to build a demo for school age
children. Suggestions are welcome as is LOTS OF HELP with networking code :)
We hope to set up a small web site in the near future and we will hopefully
have school kids coming to look at what we are doing in the next few weeks.
Thanks for any help
Michael

| OK after many hardware problems (who says redhat is as easy to install as windows) I have finally gotten a nice copy of legOS 0.2.2 compiled. Anyhow my drving reason for wanting legOS 0.2.2 is so we can do some networking with the 6 RCX's we have (...) (25 years ago, 26-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)
