My club children, age 11 to 14, just started to make a writer... This is
different from what is in the Ferrari's book. The one we are attempting to
build is to load the pen into the center of the construction. RCX is
sitting on a mobile chassis. That means the RCX will be moving as it writes.
We try to use rack and pinion to do the lifting and lowering. The
difficulty is to keep the center of rotation close to a single point as
possible. Suggestion on reading ?
About programming it, we were talking about making each letter as a subvi.
Each letter vi itself has 5 subroutines. We are planning to create one
icon for each letter program so that the main program which is supposed to
write, e.g. , robot, will simply call on all the sub-vi letter programs
namely letterR.vi letterO.vi, letterB.vi, etc. However, I suspect I
cannot have more than 3 letters within one program, as it will load 15
subroutines already. Is that assumption correct?
