Hi,

I'm running brickOS(0.2.6.10.6-1) on my debian (kernel2.6.8) using the
/lib/modules/2.6.8-386/kernel/drivers/usb/misc/legousbtower.ko driver for the
usbtower(robotics inventions 2.0 - RCX2.0).
Adding this driver gave me the following kernel message:

Sep 22 18:51:46 ganymedes kernel: drivers/usb/misc/legousbtower.c: LEGO USB
Tower #0 now attached to major 180 minor 160
Sep 22 18:51:46 ganymedes kernel: drivers/usb/misc/legousbtower.c: LEGO USB
Tower firmware version is 1.0 build 134
Sep 22 18:51:46 ganymedes kernel: usbcore: registered new driver legousbtower
Sep 22 18:51:46 ganymedes kernel: drivers/usb/misc/legousbtower.c: LEGO USB
Tower Driver v0.95

Because I didn't had a device linking to major 180 and minor 160, I did :
#/dev/usb/mknod tower0 c 180 160
#/dev/usb/chmod 666 tower0

Ok. So far so good. I loaded the driver again en tried to upload the brickOS
firmware:
ganymedes:~# firmdl3 --tty=/dev/usb/tower0 /usr/lib/brickos/brickOS.srec
/dev/usb/tower0: not a tty

How is this possible? The device should work or is there something I forgott?
Does brickOS need a special patch to use the usb tower?

I am not running Debian linux, but I got it work under Suse linux with a 2.4.6
kernel.
There was almost the same problem.
I can't find in your kernel message, where the usb tower has been attached. You
should check this first, before you are possibly trying to use the wrong device
node.
There is also a patch for the 2.6.4 kernel, that fixed a problem with the
legousbtower.c.
Look at Sourceforge for that, I don't know, if it works with a later kernel. I
will try that with a 2.6.5-7 kernel (Suse) the next days.

I hope it helps.
