Rob, Ive had the same problem with BrickOS.

Me too. Without any program loaded, it seems to do funny things with the motors.
But once I get a program downloaded, it works fine. The only thing that I find
freaky is the different values for light sensors. Theres hex percentages and
dec percentages and raw values, and I can never tell when its which...
Is there any tutorial on using the task manager? Because in the line-following
example, it uses tasks to wake up when the light sensor detects bright or
dark. I presume theres no processor advantage in doing this over just a loop,
but Im going to need to be operating my bot and a tree-expansion algorithm at
the same time...

The installation I used came with
BrickOS already built.

Me too. Im thinking that Ill probably tackle trying to rebuild it myself at
some point to free up as much memory as possible. I dont even know the sizes of
the different modules, but I definitely dont need the LNP stuff. (single RCX
bot)
