This is my first venture into lugnet.robotics, so excuse me if this has • been
asked and answered before (I normally frequent lugnet.cad).

The RCX my son received for Christmas seems to have a problem with the • low
battery indicator - it comes on with brand new batteries, but can • successfully
run the built-in programs. When we download the firmware, it refuses to • stay
active - presumably the firmware is detecting and reacting to the false
indicator. If we unload the firmware, it still runs the builtin programs. • Has
anyone else experienced and/or resolved this?

Contact LEGO Affairs. It seems you got the Lemon. Some part inside is • probably
in
backwards...

I see no user correctable 'fix' for this.

Tell them it's not working and they will send you a new one. IF they make • you
send
the dead one back first, make sure you get the shipping charges back! LEGO • has
gotten nasty about that since they moved to the USA. (IF your in the USA or
somewhere else, it might not apply)

Thanks - I got a replacement already. Just wondered if anyone had figured • out
if it is possible to make any use of (or fix) an RCX with this fault.

Chris

Probably. But if you have to give it up you don't want to mess with it. They • DID
take the other one didn't they?

No exchange, I just got an additional, working RCX - that's why I'm asking if
anyone knows how I can use the bad one.

Chris

You LUCKY guy! Well, since it's yours you can crack it open and have a look. It
must be a bad contact or diode in backwards or something like that.
