I have a Sony RM-AV2000 remote control.
Is there anyway to use it to control my Lego Mindstorms kit?

A related thought, Radio Shack among others sells remotes that can
learn by watching other remotes blink commands and storing them
into the remote. One might be able to capture signals from the
Lego remote, and perhaps even capture signals from the tower when
it is hooked up to some "run the robot" software like Mars Explorer.
One might even capture signals from Vision Command to make fake
camera detected something signals, whatever that might be good for
other than testing.  But you could possibly make a useful remote that
had an extended instruction set, able to send more than just messages
1-3 like the Lego Remote for instance, like message 21 etc.

Mike,

Thanks for the thought...I went and taught my Sony Remote what my Mindstorms
remote could do and that worked great.  I guess now I have to try to figure
out
else I can do with it.

Thanks,
Jason

Hi, Jason. Try learn from the IR tower itself. If that works, you make it learn what ever you want. All you need is to use RcxCC or similar software. Reading from the RCX IR emitter may be a possibily also, but you will learn only messages this way. (...) (24 years ago, 25-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
